Creating and implementing smart infrastructures for smart cities is a complicated and challenging task for city planners around the globe. But IoE Corp has developed the Eden platform, a technological, secure, cost-effective, and decentralized solution.

A "smart" infrastructure is a system of physical structures, communication networks, and technological solutions designed to improve the efficiency, safety, and sustainability of cities, buildings, and other human-made environments. It could be defined as a cyber-physical system that provides for the integral management of all elements it comprises through different technological tools that help compile and analyze data to meet efficiency, sustainability, productivity, and safety objectives.

It's made up of various interconnected devices and systems capable of collecting and exchanging data in real-time. By analyzing this data, smart infrastructure can provide insights into how these environments are being used and how they can be optimized to better serve the needs of the people who use them.

Challenges when installing a complex smart infrastructure

Installing a complex smart infrastructure presents various challenges. Integrating multiple systems, platforms, and devices can be challenging since installing a smart infrastructure involves connecting different types of devices and technologies. Each technology has its protocols, interfaces, and programming languages that must be integrated seamlessly to achieve the desired functionality.

Security is also a significant concern with the increasing number of connected devices in smart infrastructure. The more connected devices and systems, the greater the risk of cybersecurity threats, such as hacking, data breaches, and cyber-attacks.

To ensure that all systems and devices can communicate with each other, they must be designed with interoperability in mind. However, not all systems are designed to work together. Rethink electricity infrastructures

The cloud problem

Smart services, especially smart infrastructures, with 24/7 always-on requirements, create new challenges in computing. The cloud has made a lot of reasonable solutions for many online services, such as web shopping and subscriptions. But the centralized nature of the cloud makes it a bad fit for smart services and infrastructures.

For example, you can't open the door of your smart home if the connection is terrible. In a smart hospital that relies on the cloud and has a power outage, the emergency power kicks in, but all intelligent services are still down as there is no connection to the cloud. On IoE Corp, we have instead devised a decentralized solution called Eden. The Eden platform runs on the core internet but is not connected to the World Wide Web (WWW). Access and computing are managed locally, providing stability, security, and privacy, even when the power goes out.

Smart infrastructure on the Eden platform

Using data verification via blockchain consensus and data validation and sanity checks on embedded AI, bad hardware and malware are detected and managed on the fly on Eden. The Eden system is based on scalable device clustering, so adding new devices as nodes makes it possible for any device to contribute computing resources over an intelligent mesh network. This makes it so that computing can happen where it's needed and close to where it will be used.

In addition, we have developed quantum-safe tunnels, using polymorphic encryption keys and a blockchain with consensus to verify the data moved between the nodes over the tunnels, thus creating trusted data-walled gardens. The orchestration of computing and storage is done via service manifests that describe service rules, policies, and logic; an autonomous knowledge-based AI manages the underlying orchestration mechanics, using network consensus over the blockchain as a deciding mechanism.

By deploying the Eden system and using the Eden platform, you minimize the security risks connected to IoT and embedded AI. At the same time, you can create sustainable, stable, secure, always-on services for the smart infrastructure you are building. You might say that Eden is a technical salvation for implementing smart infrastructure.
